Role Description The Specialty Pharmacy Manager is a full-time, on-site role located in Shenandoah, TX. This role oversees daily specialty pharmacy operations, including workflow management, medication dispensing, inventory control, and compliance with state and federal regulations. The manager leads and mentors pharmacy technicians and other staff, ensuring accurate prescription processing, patient counseling, and coordination with prescribers and insurance providers. Responsibilities include implementing clinical and operational protocols, monitoring quality metrics, managing immunization services where applicable, and driving continuous process improvement. The role also involves supporting patient access to specialty medications through prior authorization coordination, adherence programs, and clear communication with patients and caregivers.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and support Pharmacy Technicians, including training, scheduling, and performance oversight.
- Strong background in Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, with experience in specialty or clinical pharmacy settings.
- Expertise in managing Prescription workflows, including verification, dispensing, and coordination with prescribers and payers.
- Current pharmacist license in good standing in the state of Texas (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
- Experience with specialty medications, prior authorizations, and reimbursement processes is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic health records, and related digital tools.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree preferred; relevant management experience in a pharmacy setting is an advantage.
