Job Title: Trademark Paralegal
Location: Rocky Hill, CT (Onsite)
Contract: 2-3 months
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate required.
- Experience in trademark portfolio management, preferably with a global company or law firm handling large, international portfolios.
- Knowledge of USPTO practice and international systems (Madrid Protocol, WIPO).
- Skilled in IP docketing and portfolio management software.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize global deadlines and manage high-volume work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across time zones and cultures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; SAP or other enterprise systems experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
Trademark Portfolio Management
- Maintain and update our global trademark database, ensuring records are accurate and complete.
- Prepare and file applications, renewals, assignments, and recordals with USPTO and coordinate with foreign counsel.
- Support clearance projects by coordinating searches, reviewing results, and reporting to stakeholders.
Trademark Enforcement & Brand Protection
- Monitor and analyze watch notices and online brand alerts for infringement.
- Draft cease-and-desist letters, coordinate takedowns, and support oppositions/cancellations with outside counsel.
- Assist with domain name monitoring and enforcement.
Cross-Functional Support
- Serve as the point of contact for marketing, product development, and business teams on trademark clearance and brand protection.
- Prepare reports and portfolio updates for IP stakeholders.
- Assist with training initiatives and compliance programs related to trademark use.
Docketing & Deadlines
- Manage global docket of deadlines (renewals, oppositions, enforcement).
- Ensure timely filings and communicate key deadlines.
Administrative & Legal Support
- Coordinate with outside counsel on filings, disputes, and budget matters.
- Review invoices, track accruals, and support budget planning for global trademark spend.
- Maintain organized electronic files in compliance with Henkel’s internal guidelines.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
