Role Description
Budget title: Division I Head Coach (SL-4)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Binghamton University, an NCAA Division I institution, is seeking the inaugural Head Coach for Women's Flag Football. In partnership with the Division of Athletics administration, this position will lead the launch of the new scholarship-supported, varsity program, and guide planning and operational aspects associated with its establishment.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Build and lead a program that reflects the mission, values, and strategic goals of Binghamton University and the Division of Athletics
- Ensure full compliance with all regulations set forth by the NCAA, SUNY, Binghamton University, the Division of Athletics, and future conference affiliations
- Work in coordination with assistant coach(es) and staff to successfully lead a competitive program
Recruiting
- Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy to build a competitive roster
- Manage the program's scholarship budget responsibly and effectively
Coaching, Training & Game Planning
- Design and implement training, practice, and game plans
- Provide tactical and technical instruction to support student-athlete development
- Maintain and promote student-athlete health and safety in collaboration with Sports Medicine and Sports Performance staff
- Continuously monitor and adopt new technologies, software and strategic approaches in the sport
Program Operations
- Oversee scheduling, team travel, and logistical coordination
- Manage operating budgets for all facets of a Division I program
- Establish and enforce team rules consistent with university and divisional standards
- Support and monitor student-athlete welfare, development, and academic progress with assistance from relevant support staff
- Build strong community relationships to promote the program, enhance engagement, and support fundraising initiatives
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (or higher)
Preferred:
Master's Degree
Coaching of a relevant sport at the collegiate and/or professional level
