Job Description
Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Reporting through the Division of Student Affairs, Binghamton University Auxiliary Services enhances the university experience for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and guests with the provision of important services for the campus experience. These services include Binghamton University Dining Services (BUDS), which partners with Sodexo to deliver quality meals with superior service to the campus. BUDS works with the Student Culinary Council, a student-led organization dedicated to continuously improving the dining experience on campus in exciting and new ways. Auxiliary Services has also purchased a property that will serve as a commissary kitchen and several food trucks to support the needs of the campus. Auxiliary Services also manages the Binghamton University Lane-Starke Tennis Center.
In addition, Auxiliary Services manages the relationships between the campus and partners such as banking services (Visions Federal Credit Union), the Binghamton Bookstore (Barnes & Noble), the Campus Pre-School, Pouring Rights (PepsiCo), Vending services, laundry services, MicroFridge, the Campus Food Pantry, and BU Acres.
We are seeking a proactive and resourceful Food Service Administrator to enhance our dining services and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a background in food service management, effective interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with dining partners, students, and staff. This role is pivotal in aligning customer goals with our services, ensuring an exceptional dining experience while driving revenue growth.

- Educate and develop rapport with dining partners, promoting collaborative relationships that enhance service delivery.
- Service Improvement:
- Maintain and continuously improve service levels, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and revenue generation.
- Recognize opportunities for growth opportunities.
- Problem Resolution:
- Demonstrate resourcefulness and quick responsiveness to any operational issues that may arise.
- Identify and implement innovative and forward-thinking solutions.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor financial performance with a focus on revenue targets, while implementing strategies to reduce product loss and theft.
- Operational Expertise:
- Leverage operational experience in the food service industry to optimize service efficiency and effectiveness.
- Renovation and Maintenance:
- Contribute to renovation projects, ensuring alignment with service goals and campus needs.
- Manage preventative and corrective maintenance projects.
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 5 years of experience in the food service or food sales industry, with progressively increasing responsibilities
- Proven ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation aimed at strengthening the customer experience, including quality assurance initiatives
- Financial acumen, with a keen eye for detail regarding revenue targets and cost management
- Familiarity with renovation projects and their impact on operations
- Experience with contract writing, negotiations, and request for proposals
- Effective interpersonal skills to engage with food service providers, students, and staff
- Demonstrated ability to present in front of large groups
- Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders and partners to enhance quality of food program
- Experience writing new and/or reviewing existing policies and procedures
- Master's Degree in business administration, accounting, finance, non-profit management or a related field of study
- Experience in a university or college setting, or transferrable skills
- Experience with supervising staff
- Experience working with vendors
