The Workplace Violence Prevention Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive system-wide workplace violence prevention program. This position is responsible for developing and facilitating the Billings Clinic Workplace Violence Prevention Program. This position will ensure that all relevant policies and practices related to workplace violence are consistent with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. This position will investigate all workplace violence incidents to prevent similar events. This individual partners with the Magnet and Safety and Emergency Management Manager(s)/Director(s) to ensure proper reporting, continued accreditation, and alignment with Billings Clinic’s Nursing and organizational strategic plans
Essential Job Functions
Program Leadership and Oversight
•Develop and implement a comprehensive Workplace
Violence Prevention Program across Billings Clinic's sites
•Establish strategic goals, performance metrics, and
program priorities
•Monitor program effectiveness and drive continuous
improvement initiatives
•Define workplace violence in policy and operational
practice
•Establish and maintain a standardized violence and
abuse reporting platform
•Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and
internal safety standards
Team Leadership and Supervision
•Directly supervise assigned staff, including hiring,
onboarding, coaching, and performance evaluation
•Provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and
professional development to team members
•Address performance concerns in accordance with
Billings Clinic policies
•Ensure team competencies meet organizational and
regulatory standards
•Allocate workload and resources to support
operational needs across regional sites
Incident Investigation and
Mitigation
•Oversee and conduct investigations of workplace
violence incidents in a timely and objective manner
•Conduct or review root cause analyses and identify
contributing factors
•Develop and implement corrective action and
mitigation plans
•Provide guidance and support to leaders and affected
staff
•Ensure appropriate documentation and reporting to
internal and external stakeholders
Education and Training
•Oversee the design and delivery of routine
de-escalation and crisis intervention training
•Ensure training initiatives are implemented
consistently across departments and affiliates
•Establish measurable education outcomes and monitor
quarterly progress
Organizational and Clinical
Alignment
•Partner with Magnet, Safety, and Emergency Management
leaders to support accreditation requirements
•Maintain documentation supporting Magnet designation
and redesignation efforts
•Integrate workplace violence prevention strategies
into interdisciplinary safety initiatives
