The role of the MedFlight Operations Nurse manager is to have oversight and ensures patient care and quality standards are met and comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Supervises and ensures continuous improvement of all clinical practices, services and operations by designing and implementing systems, processes and methods to evaluate and improve patient care within the program. Manages day-to-day activities of the operations; monitors quality service and utilization standards; supervises shift(s) activities and delivery of patient care. Manages the service(s) day- to- day clinical and business operations including safety, practice standards, staffing, training, payroll, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement. Works with other internal and external leaders, as a team, to help ensure best in practice, and evidence-based care is provided to all patients requiring transport services throughout the system and region.
Essential Job Functions
• In collaboration with physician leadership and other medical staff, administration, and other health care providers, develops and implements short and long range plans, and leads, develops and revises programs which enhance department services.
• Develops, implements and maintains a service delivery model for the area accountability
• Develops and maintains community relationships as it relates to the continuum of care
• Participates in the development of patient care delivery models and/or care programs, nursing policies and procedures that describe how patient care needs and/or patient populations receiving nursing care are assessed, evaluated and met.
• Participates in the development and implementation of Billings Clinic’s plans for providing nursing care to patients. • Participates in the implementation of an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care. Monitors compliance to the plan.
• Promotes a learning environment that empowers care team to provide safe, reliable, patient-centered nursing care that is effective, compassionate and efficient.
• Maintains appropriate skill/knowledge of application and patient relevance of commonly used equipment specific to area; pharmacological application; application of laboratory values with disease process or physiological status.
• Leads department in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities. Coordinates with nursing leaders in pursing service line/organizational goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
• Markets and promotes programs and services to both internal and external healthcare providers and community members.
• Supports community education and awareness by conducting public education programs, participation in health fairs and other events.
• Promotes the value of health care provided by the organization by creating effective public relations programs to differentiate and promote the services provided

• Operational Oversight: Plan, implement and monitor all operational aspects of the transport service. Monitor trends in volume demand and resource utilization. Initiate appropriate and timely changes as needed to meet operational goals. Collaborates with other MedFlight leadership.
• Clinical Oversight: Develops and maintains processes to ensure adherence to all compliance standards including corporate, government, industry and clinical practice licensing authorities. Ensures department policies and procedures are current and relevant to the industry standards.
• Safety Promotion: Works proactively to develop a strong safety culture. Works closely with Aviation vendors to ensure safety standards and practices are strictly enforced throughout the program
• Financial Management: Monitor billing and collections performance, cash flow needs of the organization, and budget expense compliance. Maintain a sound fiscal system including operating and capital budget preparation and reporting, and a capital equipment replacement and purchase plan.
• Customer Relations: Demonstrates dedication to customer relationship development through positive personal interactions with internal and external customers. Develops and implements a strategy for front-end customer engagement and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Business Development: Identifies potential business opportunities for program expansion and prepares related business proposals for Executive review and approval. • 5 years of clinical experience in medical transport and/or a related health care business
• 5 years of financial management with business operations, planning, and strategic development
Certifications and Licenses

• Current Montana driver’s license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles
