Role Description:
The Billing & AR Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Laurel, MD. This position is responsible for managing end-to-end client billing processes, including generating invoices, posting payments, reconciling accounts, and following up on outstanding balances. The specialist will review claims and billing data for accuracy, communicate with clients, payers, and internal teams to resolve discrepancies, and monitor aging reports to reduce days in accounts receivable. Daily work includes updating billing records, documenting all activities in the system, supporting month-end closing tasks, and contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency and cash flow.
Qualifications:
- Strong skills in Billing Process and Client Billing, with experience managing full-cycle billing in a healthcare or professional services environment.
- Proficiency in Invoicing and Accounting practices, including payment posting, reconciliations, and reviewing AR aging reports.
- Effective Communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, payers, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience using billing software, practice management systems, or accounting platforms; strong MS Excel skills are beneficial.
- Attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently on-site, and collaborate within a team in a deadline-driven environment.
- Prior experience in medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle management is preferred.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1.5 to 2 years of proven experience in medical billing and AR management.
Specialized Knowledge:
- Explicit, hands-on experience in Dental Billing and Home Health Billing is strictly required.
