Job Summary: 

In partnership with First 5, The Family Resource Center is located in San Jose and will be open Tuesday through Saturday. The Family Resource Center will serve families in Santa Clara County and provide specific programming for infants and children ages 0-5. The Center will provide an array of services for families including basic needs, diaper distribution, case management, and connection to resources.   The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the opening and closing of the center and appropriate coverage at the center. 

  • Provide copies of sign in sheets and intake forms to the Director as requested.  

  • Ensure that all client records are maintained and up to date, including data in AWARDS.

  • Provide reports as required to track client participation in services and program outcomes.

  • Plan and coordinate with FRC staff  and community partners the monthly activities and events for the center.  

  • Ensure the monthly calendar is distributed on time and create flyers/outreach messaging as necessary. 

  • Facilitate workshops and events, including but not limited to educational workshops for children, parents and families. 

  • Coordinate the daily monitoring and maintenance of basic services such as kitchen, showers and washers/dryers.

  • Provide orientation and tours to clients, visitors and other stakeholders.

  • Provide support to FRC staff to ensure rules and policies are being observed. 

  • Report incidents to the Director immediately and complete documentation for the incidents in AWARDS. 

  • Mediate client concerns and conflict following applicable policies and procedures.

  • Support and participate in outreach to engage families in services. 

  • Responsible for soliciting food and donations. Coordinate with the Development Department to solicit monetary donations.

  • Responsible for supplies inventory, management and ordering. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Experience working with families, young adults and children, including those that have intersected with the foster care or probation systems and/or those that have experienced homelessness, or personal experience in the above. 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Communications, or related field desired but not a requirement.

  • Experience working with culturally diverse clients.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Driving is a requirement of the job. Must have possession of current driver’s license, access to a vehicle and personal automobile insurance. 

  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required (or complete within 30 days of hire).  

  • Fingerprinting/background check as required by the Department of Justice and/or Title XXII regulations. TB test required.  

  • Must be punctual, efficient and organized; effective and professional under pressure. Ability to balance excellent client care with meeting deadlines and ensuring positive program goals and outcomes. Excellent communication skills - must be personable and informative when presenting Bill Wilson Center programs and services.  

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Must be able to communicate effectively. Bilingual communication skills are a plus.

  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts as required for reporting.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software and Internet research skills..

Salary Range:

$31.00 - $33.00 per hour
