Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Life Skills Coach/Life Skills case manager coaches, case manages and equips DIC youth with life skills for independent living. The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of Life Skills Coach at Drop-In-Center are as follows:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Utilize trauma informed practices and motivational interviewing when interacting with clients and creating culture of program.
• Assist young adults in learning or improving independent living skills.
• Assist youth with developing educational and vocational plans.
• Organize workshops, group activities, events for the clients to participate in - such as financial budgeting, communication skills, mock interview, job applications, benefits connection, parenting coaching, housing stability, health and wellness and other life skills
• Serves as an appropriate role model for the youth participants
• Maintain a case load and provide case management to enrolled youth
• Collaborate, build partnerships with agencies to host workshops and connect the youth to community resources to meet their needs
• Handle and support team when crisis situations as they may arise
• Follow up with participants about violations and any non-compliance with program expectations.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure program outcomes and goals are met as per contract.
• Maintain statistical data and complete reports as appropriate.
• Keep accurate records of client assessments, plans, and progress reports; update case notes in HMIS and Awards .
• Attend agency and other program meetings as appropriate.
• Participate in agency Program Quality Improvement activities and initiatives.
• Participate agency Safety initiatives and proactively report safety issues to management immediately.
• Complete program and financial documentation according to program and agency standards.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, get along with coworkers and deal effectively and professionally under pressure.
• Regular attendance and punctuality is a requirement of the position.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree (B.A. B.S.) or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
• One to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent.
• Experience working with culturally diverse youth required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
• Comprehend and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, email management, internet navigation, and operating system navigation required.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish speaker desired.
• Navigate agency databases such as AWARDS and Gmail.
• Fingerprint/background check and TB test required.

Physical Demands:

• Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
• Ability to move around the shelter, office, and stairs.
• Ability to move items up to 15lbs when necessary.

Work Environment:

• The noise level is usually moderate.
• Persons of all ages including infants in shelter at any given time.
• Located on a busy, high traffic street.
• Will be working independently as well as in a team.

Salary Range:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour.
