Your role will center on guiding approximately eight students through their educational journey, focusing on individualized growth and academic success. You’ll collaborate closely with three experienced teaching assistants and school staff, ensuring each child receives the personalized attention and encouragement they need.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Active Special Education Educator Certificate required
- Experience teaching students with diverse learning needs, ideally in a life skills or high functioning special education classroom
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful environment
- Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the varying needs of students
- Comfort working onsite and engaging with colleagues, students, and families
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with special needs, following established IEPs
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, related service providers, and other staff to support student growth
- Implement effective strategies for classroom management and student engagement
- Maintain accurate records and document student progress
- Communicate regularly with families and participate in team meetings as needed
This full-time role runs from approximately October 16, 2026, through January 15, 2027, covering a maternity leave in an elementary school setting. Daily hours are 8:15 am – 3:45 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
