Special Education Teacher in Willimantic, CT

This contract opportunity runs from now through June 2026, with full-time weekday hours from 8:10 am to 3:30 pm, working closely with a dedicated caseload of 10 students.

Your expertise will help nurture student development both academically and personally, with the chance to collaborate alongside supportive staff and foster a positive, structured classroom environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid special education certification (065 or 165 required)
• Experience or confidence in instructing students who are non-verbal
• Familiarity with Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI)
• Organized, reliable, and adaptable approach to daily lesson planning
• Willingness to assist and support students with Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
• Commitment to respecting individual abilities and maximizing student growth

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Delivering direct instruction using DTI methods and differentiated teaching strategies
• Supporting non-verbal students with alternative communication tools and personalized approaches
• Monitoring student progress and regularly reporting on academic and behavioral goals
• Partnering with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to ensure all-around support
• Creating a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and engaging for all learners
