Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Certification (065 or 165 required)
- Experience supporting non-verbal students and delivering Direct Teaching Instruction (DTI)
- Demonstrated ability to provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
- Compassionate approach with an enthusiastic willingness to meet diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s abilities and goals
- Provide Direct Teaching Instruction and create an engaging, structured learning environment
- Foster communication strategies and social skills, especially for students who are non-verbal
- Lead and support ADL for students as needed, promoting independence
- Collaborate with support staff, administrators, and families to ensure comprehensive care and academic progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state, federal, and district policies
