A contracted opening is available for two Sign Language Interpreters to support elementary-level students in the Virginia Beach area. This opportunity focuses on delivering essential communication access within public schools during the current school year.
Assignment Details:
- Location: Elementary schools within the Virginia Beach area, VA
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM
- Duration: January 5, 2026 June 16, 2026, with potential renewal for the 2026/2027 school year
- Hours per week: 30
- Caseload: To be determined, serving elementary age students
- Contract Type: Full-time, contract position
Essential Qualifications:
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification is required
- Preferred Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher; candidates with an EIPA score of 3.0 or a Quality Assurance Screening score of 3 or above will be considered
- Strong sign language interpreting skills with the ability to support young learners effectively
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and teaching staff
- Provide appropriate sign language interpretation tailored to elementary school settings
- Collaborate with educators to foster an inclusive learning environment
