These assignments require fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in an educational setting.Locations and Assignments:Villa Park, IL North Elementary School: Full-time (7:45 AM3:15 PM), providing ASL interpreting services in a self-contained DHH program. Responsibilities include supporting students across various activities such as gym, art, music therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, English Learner services, and collaborating with Deaf staff and a team of interpreters. Hinsdale, IL Oak Elementary School: Part-time (12:00 PM3:00 PM), one-on-one interpreting services for a preschooler.Qualifications:Active Illinois ASL Educator Certification EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher, or registration with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Proven ability to interpret effectively in educational settings, especially within self-contained DHH programs Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams Responsibilities:Providing clear and accurate ASL interpretation to facilitate communication and access to curriculum for DHH students Adapting interpreting services to various educational activities throughout the school day Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and Deaf staff to support student success Participating in team meetings and ongoing professional development This contract position runs through May 20, 2026, with assignments beginning as soon as possible.
