A licensed nurse is needed to support an 18-year-old male student out of district, assisting both during his school day and providing transportation support. This rewarding contract opportunity spans the summer and the upcoming academic year, with the district also anticipating continued need into future years.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or RN license required
- Prior experience supporting students or young adults with complex medical needs is highly valued
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with families, school staff, and transportation providers
- Ability to provide 1:1 support for students requiring specialized care, including mobility assistance and medical treatments as needed
Your Role:
- Provide continuous 1:1 nursing care to the student throughout the school day, including accompanying him during van transportation to and from his program
- Support the student’s health needs associated with periventricular leukomalacia, spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, cortical visual impairment, and gastrointestinal disorders
- Assist with daily living activities, health monitoring, medication administration, and medical interventions per physician orders
- Document all care provided and maintain clear communication with educational and healthcare teams
- Adapt to summer and regular school year schedules, offering flexibility for start and end times based on the student’s program attendance
