Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field, Adapted Physical Education (APE) certification, and 1 years Adaptive PE Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a difference for middle school students by fostering inclusion and movement as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) provider for the 2026-2027 school year. In this rewarding contract role, you will travel district-wide in Springfield, MA, supporting students who require Adaptive PE services across several middle school campuses. Your expertise ensures students of all abilities can participate and thrive in physical education, promoting their physical and social development.

Key Requirements:

  • Valid Adaptive PE certification/licensure (if applicable)
  • Experience providing APE services in a school setting, preferably with middle school students
  • Demonstrated ability to support students with disabilities, tailoring activities to individual needs
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to work closely with educational teams and families
  • Capable of offering both direct instruction and consultative services in diverse school environments
  • Reliable transportation for travel throughout the district
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
  • Must pass a drug screening and complete fingerprinting/background (CORI) checks
  • Consistent punctuality; must notify school and recruiter if illness prevents attendance

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, adaptive PE activities for identified students
  • Consult with faculty to design and support inclusive physical education programming
  • Travel between various school locations as required
  • Monitor student progress and maintain clear documentation
  • Collaborate with IEP teams and participate in required meetings
  • Ensure safety, accessibility, and a positive learning environment for all

You’ll work approximately 2 to 2.5 days per week alongside a passionate school community and dedicated support teams. The position requires onsite presence only and offers an excellent opportunity to shape experiences for students across the district.
