Our client has built a very positive name for themselves over the last 75 years, and theyre seeking reliable, self-sufficient, and highly skilled technicians to join their team for the long term.
This Senior Field Service Mechanic role is a great opportunity for an experienced air compressor technician who not only wants to work hands-on with commercial air compressors, pumps, and vacuum systems at various customer sites, but also enjoys taking the lead, mentoring junior technicians, and helping build a strong team.
Experience working with industrial air compressors is required for this senior-level role. Candidates should also be comfortable taking on a leadership role in the field and willing to share their knowledge with others.
Essential Job Duties of a Senior Field Service Mechanic:
- Repair, maintain, and install commercial air compressors, pumps, and vacuum systems at customer locations.
- Use sketches, blueprints, and manuals to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using proper tools and troubleshooting methodology.
- Inspect, listen, and dismantle machines to identify malfunctions.
- Measure and inspect parts for wear, misalignment, or mechanical failure.
- Apply strong working knowledge of electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, and controls.
- Test and replace faulty electrical components; troubleshoot PLCs with diagnostic tools.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior team members and apprentices, both formally and informally.
- Lead by example, promoting a culture of safety, quality workmanship, and excellent customer service.
Additional Job Duties:
- Maintain company service vehicle in clean and operational condition.
- Organize, manage, and replenish truck stock parts and tools as needed.
- Complete all service reports, work orders, and customer paperwork promptly and legibly.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years experience working with industrial/commercial air compressor systems (rotary screw, reciprocating, and/or centrifugal types preferred).
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Proven ability to teach and mentor junior mechanics or a willingness to lead by example.
- Valid drivers license with an insurable driving record.
- Willingness to work overtime and occasional overnight travel as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to recognize and work with common mechanical and electrical components.
- Strong understanding of system troubleshooting, repair, and diagnostics.
- EPA Universal Certification and refrigeration experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent customer relations and communication skills.
- Experience troubleshooting PLCs and advanced system controls is a plus.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and move parts and equipment weighing 10100 lbs.
- Comfortable performing physical activities involved in servicing industrial equipment.
Pay Rate:
- $35 - $45 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
