Position Summary:  Under the direction of the CAP Coordinator, the CAP Supervisor I is responsible for providing supervision of CAP staff and provides oversight of CAP daily operations including  but not limited to staff scheduling, planning, implementing, and collecting report data for events and activities, assisting with monthly report completion and submission, participant and parent communication, coordinating transportation services and management of the CAP budget related to consumables for activities and events.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Supervises 1-3 staff members on a daily basis; supervises children during program activities; supervises volunteers and student interns,
on occasion.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: The Supervisor I responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·       Provides daily supervision and leadership of CAP staff and participants during activities and events.

·       Provides staff coaching and training, when required.

·       Coordinates with the CAP Coordinator in providing quality, purposeful culturally relative events that promote the outcomes desired of the program.

·       Plans and implements community activities, services and events that support the CAP and as directed and approved by the BSR Tribal Council.

·       Assures funding source budget guidelines are followed; provides budget tracking and purchase processes in alignment with BSR Financial Department.

·       Provides guidance to staff and oversee planning, scheduling and implementation of program activities, services, and events.

·       Coordinates transportation for qualifying community members, on a scheduled basis; maintains transportation records and provides transportation reports, as required. 

·       Assists in supporting community member participation in all program activities including creation and distribution of activity and event flyers.

·       Provides accurate data and information for records of activities for reporting purposes to project funding agencies; assures monthly report is accurate and completed on time.

·       Collaborates with partner organizations, tribal and community groups to provide resources and support for program activities.

·       Assures that the CAP adheres to all compliance and requirements set forth by the funding agencies and BSR Tribal Council.

·       Positively mentors the BSR community youth in education and citizenship activities to promote positive individual and community growth.

·       Assures a safe environment for program participants and staff.

·       Oversees daily set-up & clean up.

·       Perform at hours reflective of community access.

·       Ability to take up roles and responsibilities on a pro-active basis.

·       Assists with BSR Emergency Operations, when required.

·       All other duties as assigned.

 

 

JOB POSITION REQUIRES:

·       High School Diploma or equivalent;  job related post-secondary coursework preferred.

·       Minimum of 1-year experience working in a community service-based organization, youth services, recreation program, etc. in a leadership/supervisory role.

·       Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience in a community service-based organization, youth services, recreation program, etc.

·       Valid California Driver’s License and be eligible for insurance coverage with BSR.

·       Ability to transport up to seven people at a time; knowledge of routes to avoid wasted travel time and resources.

·       Submit and successfully clear pre-employment drug screen and background check prior to employment.

·       Ability to maintain current 1st Aid/CPR, Safe Food Server, and Mandated Reporter certifications.

·       Ability to facilitate classes and present information to participants in small or large group setting.

·       Ability to provide excellent customer service - work in a positive, tactful, and confidential manner with staff, participants, partners, and the community.

·       Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office applications.

·       Ability to organize, maintain and submit data for records and reports.

·       Good oral and written communication skills

·       Good organizational and planning skills.

·       Ability to maintain confidentiality.

·       Exercise good judgement and initiative.

·       Ability to work successfully with a variety of people from different backgrounds.

·       Ability to work independently and support a team environment.

·       Understanding and/or sensitivity to the Native American culture, tradition and BSR community’s needs.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally divided between an office setting and group gatherings with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Travel may be required.

 

PREFERENCE IN HIRING: Preference in hiring is given to qualified American Indian in accordance with Indian Preference Act. Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification or Indian heritage documentation certified by Tribe of affiliation or Bureau of Indian Affairs.
