Objective of the Job
A Product Engineer Intern will be assisting current Plant Metallurgists in carrying out specific product or process-related data collection, analysis, and trend evaluations. They will also be assigned specific investigative activities to ensure product quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
Qualifications
1) Degree in Materials Science/Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent,
2) Good communication and interpersonal skills,
3) Strong computer skills for IOM and L3 and other production system
4) Understanding of ferrous metallurgy and physical principles,
5) Understanding of steel producing units and product quality attributes
6) Ability to analyze production data using data analytics and modeling tools that helps in identifying trends and process optimization.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to work in an office setting with daily tasks in the mill, which could typically involve extreme environments from hot to cold.

- Ensure Safety as a top priority, adhere to Environmental, Quality requirements and, where applicable’, ResponsibleSteel requirements.
- Work with Plant Metallurgists and Operational units to gather information on product quality, properties and processing to analyze or explore product quality improvement ideas.
- Assist in tracking property, microstructural data in support of production trials.
- Assist and coordinate with Quality and Operational units in collection, preparation of samples for quality checks for production trials.
- Support investigation of product quality issues through collection of process data and samples.
