Objective of the Job:
An IT Specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing hardware & software components of the organization’s computers. They also support these systems through remote access or site visits as needed by management teams within their company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” Responsible Steel requirements are followed
2) Diagnosing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer and software systems for companies.
3) Installing or upgrading computer systems and networks in the workplace.
4) Troubleshooting software, hardware, and other IT equipment issues.
5) Maintaining technical documentation.
6) Conducting performance checks for newly installed software or hardware.
7) Being the primary point of contact for IT support within a company.
8) Administering, supporting, and troubleshooting all computing hardware (computers, printers, monitors), software and operating systems.
9) Deploying software on all company computers.
Qualifications:
1) A bachelor’s degree (computer science, information technology, information technology management or computer engineering) or equivalency in relevant certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, etc.) and work experience.
2) At least one year of experience in IT support, network administration or system administration.
3) Excellent communication, problem-solving and customer service skills.
4) Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
5) Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work in an office setting with frequent tasks in the mill, which could typically involve extreme environments from hot to cold. This position can require long hours, weekend and holiday coverage to support routine responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position does not supervise others.
