Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable driver to join our team.
Position Summary
The Part-Time Driver is responsible for safely transporting residents to and from medical appointments, activities, and other approved outings. This role ensures residents are transported in a timely, respectful, and safe manner while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely transport residents to scheduled medical appointments, outings, and facility-related activities
- Assist residents in and out of the vehicle as needed, including use of wheelchairs and mobility devices
- Ensure all residents are secured properly using seat belts and/or wheelchair restraints
- Maintain transportation logs including mileage, times, and destinations
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff regarding resident schedules and needs
- Inspect vehicle before and after use to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Report any vehicle issues, incidents, or concerns immediately
- Follow all traffic laws and facility safety policies
- Provide courteous and compassionate interaction with residents at all times
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Previous experience in healthcare or transportation preferred
- Ability to safely operate wheelchair-accessible vans
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety checks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience and compassion when working with elderly or disabled individuals
- Ability to lift, push, and assist residents (up to 50 lbs with assistance)
- Dependable, punctual, and organized
- Part-time hours; schedule may vary based on appointment needs
- May include weekdays and occasional weekends
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- Ability to assist residents with mobility needs
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
- Must pass background check
- CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
