Director of Preconstruction - Mission Critical

Big-D Mission Critical is looking for a Director of Preconstruction to join the team located in Salt Lake City, UT.

Experience/Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering or related
• 10 plus years working in the preconstruction process as a Sr. Estimator, Chief Estimator or Manager
• Preconstruction experience on data centers is preferred

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)

• Create new relationships and opportunities with customers
• Exhibits strong commitment to customer service, both internal and external, loyalty to Big-D, in fulfillment of Big-D’s stewardship/mission
• Leads all preconstruction services for their projects
• Directs all professional staff in the preconstruction process and leads their teams in such a way to maximize the contributions of each team member
• Provides continuous project oversight during the design and preconstruction phase
• Fosters collaboration within the project team
• Ultimately accountable for accurate estimates, cost studies, benchmarking, and team participation as necessary to gain approval for the project to proceed into construction
•  Works with the Project Director and project management team to ensure a successful transition from preconstruction to construction
• Acts as the primary owner contact throughout preconstruction
• Recognize the skills of project personnel, nominating worthy individuals for Big-D awards and advancement
• Recruit high caliber personnel from outside sources to work at Big-D
• Supports Big-D’s mission and values as well as all policies and procedures

Critical Skills:

• Ability to coach, mentor and teach team members
• Proficient in Prolog, Timberline, OST, P6, Bluebeam, MS Office
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to communicate at a high level
• Good time management skills and excellent attention to detail
• Work well in a team environment
• Design management Skills
• Understanding of construction cost and is aware of current market conditions
