Job Summary:
The Liquor Store Associate is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining store cleanliness and organization, ensuring compliance with all alcohol sales laws, and supporting daily store operations. This role requires attention to detail, reliability, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist customers with product selection and recommendations
- Answer questions regarding products, pricing, and promotions
- Handle customer concerns or escalate issues to management
Sales & Checkout
- Operate POS system accurately and efficiently
- Process cash, credit, and other payment methods
- Verify customer identification to ensure legal age compliance
- Promote upselling and cross-selling opportunities
Inventory & Merchandising
- Stock shelves, coolers, and displays
- Rotate inventory (FIFO method) and check expiration dates
- Maintain proper product labeling and pricing
- Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying inventory
Store Maintenance
- Keep store clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, shelves, and counters
- Ensure safety standards are followed at all times
Compliance & Safety
- Follow all state and local laws regarding alcohol sales
- Refuse sales to underage or intoxicated customers
- Adhere to company policies and procedures
- Report any suspicious activity to management
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and cash handling skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs (cases of beverages)
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach regularly
Work Environment
- Fast-paced retail environment
- May involve handling alcohol products and working with diverse customers
