This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations while ensuring financial stability, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and long-term organizational success.
The ideal candidate for the Chief Financial Officer role is a strategic and collaborative financial leader with extensive experience in nonprofit healthcare finance and organizational operations. This individual will provide executive oversight of accounting, budgeting, reimbursement, financial reporting, revenue cycle management, and financial analysis while partnering closely with operational leadership and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen, leadership presence, analytical expertise, and the ability to align financial strategy with organizational goals and mission-driven outcomes.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Serve as a member of the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organization.
• Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational growth, operational efficiency, revenue enhancement, and cost containment initiatives.
• Direct all financial functions of the organization, including accounting, financial reporting, reimbursement, budgeting, forecasting, patient accounting, and statistical reporting.
• Ensure revenue cycle processes are compliant, effective, and operationally efficient from end-to-end.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial oversight processes to ensure organizational compliance and accountability.
• Prepare and present monthly financial and operational reports to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
• Lead the development, consolidation, and presentation of the annual operating budget for review and approval.
• Analyze financial data, trends, operational metrics, and economic conditions to provide strategic recommendations to organizational leadership.
• Oversee cost accounting procedures, financial analysis, and organizational reporting systems to support data-driven decision-making.
• Direct the preparation and coordination of annual financial audits and organizational tax filings.
• Collaborate effectively with leadership, department directors, board members, and community stakeholders to maximize organizational success.
• Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management to direct reports and support the financial competency development of organizational leaders.
• Evaluate the financial impact of operational decisions and provide guidance to leadership regarding fiscal sustainability and organizational performance.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
• Typically Monday–Friday during standard business hours, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Full-time exempt leadership position; schedule may vary based on organizational needs
Education & Experience:
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
• Minimum of eight to ten years of progressive financial leadership experience in nonprofit healthcare financial management required.
• Experience leading financial operations, budgeting, reimbursement, and revenue cycle management within a healthcare environment required.
• Advanced proficiency in financial management systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Office Suite required.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and financial/accounting management systems.
