Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in providing high-quality medical care for a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, and equines. This role requires a strong foundation in animal handling, veterinary terminology, and clinical procedures to support veterinarians and ensure the well-being of our patients. The Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, sterile environment while delivering exceptional pet care and client service.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and laboratory testing.
- Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining proper hygiene standards.
- Conduct animal handling and dog training to ensure safe and effective treatment processes.
- Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures using aseptic techniques and proper animal restraint methods.
- Operate diagnostic equipment including X-ray machines and laboratory instruments to aid in diagnosis.
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient files, and document treatments using veterinary terminology.
- Provide pet care services such as grooming, feeding, and administering medications as directed.
- Support critical care efforts by monitoring animal physiology and responding to urgent needs promptly.
- Assist with pet grooming, pet grooming, and other client-related services as needed.
- Ensure cleanliness of the clinic environment through proper sanitation practices following aseptic techniques.
Experience
- Prior kennel experience or animal care background preferred.
- Experience with veterinary critical care, laboratory procedures, or equine handling is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care best practices is essential.
- Hands-on experience with animal restraint, catheterization, X-ray operation, and laboratory testing is preferred.
- Previous veterinary technician experience or related animal handling roles will be considered an asset.
- Skills in dog handling, pet grooming, dog training, and animal husbandry are beneficial for success in this role. Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
