The Bibb County School District is now accepting applications for Electronic Technician II. 

 

Summary Description of Classification:  Summary Description of Classification: Responsible for installation, testing, maintenance and repair of low voltage equipment and Fire Alarm Systems. Employee will be on call for fire alarm and/or weather emergencies.

 

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  1. Thorough knowledge of low voltage cabling systems.
  2. Thorough knowledge of Troubleshooting to Repair techniques.
  3. Ability to lead others in repairing, testing and maintenance of low voltage systems
  4. Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with others.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  6. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  7. Ability to effectively utilize tools and diagnostic equipment necessary to perform job duties.
  8. Ability to drive and operate motor vehicles.
  9. Ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment without supervision or technical assistance.
  10. Skilled in electronics testing, maintenance, installation and repair.

Education, Training and Experience:

  1. Minimum high school diploma or GED certificate and technical school diploma in electronics, telephone repair, low voltage cabling installation or a closely related field is required.
  2. Five (5) years of experience in the field of low voltage cabling installation or a closely related field is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Installs, test, maintain and repair Fire Alarm Systems.

  2. Provide trainings and technical instructions for staff on the use of fire alarm related equipment.
  3. Performs work orders as directed or assigned.
  4. Maintains records of work performed and/or testing records as required.
  5. Utilizes and maintains test equipment and materials in a responsible and reliable manner.
  6. Monitors and maintains equipment inventory; advise supervisor of material and supply requirements.
  7. Submits reports as need by the district.
  8. Installs and performs maintenance and repair work on fire alarm systems.
  9. Be on call and lead others in the absences of a supervisors.
  10. Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisors.

SALARY/TERMS/BENEFITS: 

  1. 239 day contract year; 8 hours per day
  2. Salary Range: Grade 132 (placement on salary schedule based on years of related experience).  Up to ten years allowed.  The stated salary range reflects the opportunity for pay over the course of the employee's tenure. For external candidates, the top pay is not a potential starting salary.
  3. Excellent benefits package:  includes health insurance; dental and life insurance; employee assistance program; personal, and sick leave.
  4. Membership in the Teachers' Retirement System is available.
