Job Summary:
The Civil Drafting Engineer role at Biarri Networks is responsible for supporting the curation and production of post-design packages, including right-of-way permit and construction packages utilizing tools including AutoCAD and AI tools. This position will work closely with the Permitting and Project Management teams, in addition to Design team members, to create detailed plans and specifications for design engineering projects. Reporting in the Civil Works Manager, the Civil Drafting Engineer will review and produce compliant and accurate drawings that capture all project specifications including roads, utilities, and other civil works.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Drafting
- Execute all AutoCAD drafting production across active civil projects
- Set drafting priorities and coordinate workflow to meet project schedules and deadlines
- Assist as an in-house subject matter expert for AutoCAD standards, tools, and best practices
- Coordinate with project managers and engineers to scope drafting effort on new work
- Execute AutoCAD drafting tasks for active civil projects in accordance with established project priorities and deadlines
- Interpret and translate survey data, geotechnical reports, and engineering specifications into accurate construction drawings
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and the Civil Works Manager to clarify drafting scope and resolve design questions
Quality & Standards Compliance
- Apply internal CAD templates, standards, and best practices to all deliverables, adhering to guidance provided by the Civil Works Manager
- Ensure all drawings meet applicable safety standards, environmental codes, and jurisdictional permitting requirements prior to submission
- Self-review work for accuracy and completeness, flagging discrepancies or inconsistencies to the Civil Works Manager before deliverables are finalized
- Incorporate redlines and QC feedback promptly, and contribute lessons learned to improve internal templates
Technical Analysis & Design Support
- Analyze survey data, site conditions, and regulatory constraints to inform accurate and compliant design drawings
- Calculate material quantities and perform basic engineering calculations to support construction package accuracy
- Stay current with relevant local regulations, jurisdictional requirements, and industry drafting practices to ensure ongoing compliance in all work products
Travel
- Occasional travel to project sites or client locations may be required; anticipated travel commitment of up to 5–10% of working time
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with AI-assisted drafting tools. An eagerness to learn and adopt new technologies is essential in our fast-moving environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Producing accurate, consistent, and thoroughly checked deliverables is central to this role.
- Strong time management skills. The ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments, adapt to shifting priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision is required.
- Collaborative mindset and clear communication skills. This role involves regular interaction with the Civil Works Manager, Project Managers, and network designers, and requires the ability to ask the right questions and receive feedback constructively.

- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for project tracking, quantity take-offs, and documentation purposes.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a closely related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 2 years’ experience with OSP design and/or construction preferred
- 2 years of CAD Drafting experience, preferably in a civil, telecom, or infrastructure context
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, survey plans, and engineering specifications
