Under the direction of the Training Supervisor, the Trainer is responsible for providing hands-on training to new and existing associates, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their job duties safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards. This role promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence while supporting new hire success, continuous development, and overall workforce performance.
Essential Functions:
- Deliver hands-on training to new and existing associates on warehouse operations, including order selection, reach truck operation, and safe loading procedures.
- Train and certify associates on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in accordance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records, certifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Conduct onboarding and ongoing training sessions to ensure associates understand operational procedures, safety expectations, and productivity standards.
- Evaluate associate performance during training and provide coaching, feedback, and additional instruction as needed.
- Assist with daily warehouse operations, including order selection, loading, and performing drops using a reach truck when operational support is required.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance tasks, including changing equipment batteries, to maintain operational readiness.
- Develop, update, and improve training materials, work instructions, and standard operating procedures to reflect current operational practices.
- Partner with supervisors and operational leadership to identify training opportunities, address performance gaps, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote compliance with all company safety policies, food safety requirements, and operational procedures.
- Foster a positive learning environment that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain flexibility to provide training and operational support across multiple shifts, departments, and peak business periods.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or related experience required.
- Previous experience training, coaching, mentoring, or leading associates is preferred.
- Experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including reach trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks, preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills with the ability to develop and support new associates.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to utilize warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification preferred or the ability to become certified upon hire.
