Bridge Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

Butler, Fairman and Seufert (BF&S) is currently seeking a full-time engineer with background or interest in bridge design, bridge inspection, and transportation disciplines for our Indianapolis office or one of our satellite offices in Lafayette, Merrillville, Evansville, Jeffersonville, or Fort Wayne.  Project types include steel and concrete bridge design and rehabilitations, county wide bridge inspections, and miscellaneous transportation and structural projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Project Managers with design and reports for bridge design and inspection projects.
• Gain experience and assist in plan development.
• Hydraulic modelling, quantity calculations, and developing cost estimates.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 0-4 years relevant work experience and have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or plan to pass within 6 months. 
• Proficient utilizing modeling software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other software such as Excel and Word. Knowledge of other bridge software such as ConSpan, RC Pier, Merlin Dash, and HEC-RAS is helpful but not necessary.
• Strong verbal communications skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public are essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes outdoors, and some physical exertion may be necessary.
