Diesel Mechanic

BFS Services is looking for an experienced diesel mechanic technician. Pay range is $35.00 to $40.00 per hour and is based on experience. If you are a great mechanic, we want to talk to you!

With general direction from the Fleet Manager, provides a wide range of technical services on company vehicles.

Specific Duties:

Performs thorough, accurate Preventative Maintenance inspections.

Following schedules, completes all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustments, and tire rotation.

With direction from the fleet/shop manager, performs scheduled maintenance as needed.

Performs complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests. This requires interpreting and working from drawings, specifications, and other technical materials.

Must be able to do the following task:

• Inframes
• Clutch replacement
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Scanner troubleshooting
• DPF Systems, DEF Systems, and transmission troubleshooting
• DOT Inspections

Knowledge of T680 Kenworth, Peterbilts, Hino, Freightliner, and International DT466 trucks.

Must be able to make up an accurate parts list and hand to parts clerk.

Performs emergency roadside services as needed. Requires operation of either replacement vehicle or utility truck.

Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.

Maintains tools and workplaces so that conditions are neat, orderly and clean.

Clean-up work area after reparis.

Have a good attitude, be respectful to coworkers, vendors, and customers.

Must be thoroughly familiar with all safety provisions associated with vehicle maintenance. Understands OSHA standards and provisions.

Understands and conforms to State EPA regulations regarding disposal of toxic waste substances.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses.

Experience in Heavy equipment operation environment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Provide own hand tools required for regular maintenance.

Knowledge AND Skills

Experience on the following: T680 Kenworth, Peterbilts, Hino, Freightliner, and International DT466

Knowledge of tools, procedures, technical skills, and safety rules used in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel, and alternative powered equipment.

Knowledge of installing Samsara vehicle gateways, cameras, and GPS units and using the samsara platform.

Written and verbal communication skills, and customer service skills are essential. Ability to deal with problems and find solutions.

Must have knowledge of Federal and State regulations.

Operational knowledge of motorized gasoline, diesel and alternative fueled vehicles, and shop equipment and tools.

Scheduling and setting priorities for work to be accomplished.

Inspection of equipment and diagnose mechanical defects.
