Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Controls and Automation Engineer is responsible for project execution, operations, and maintenance support of Evolution’s Automation and Controls platform. They will be responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to familiarize themselves with Evolution’s hardware, software, and network strategy; administer controls environment (hardware, software, networks); maintain, develop, and execute automation solutions that enhance control systems capabilities. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing, commissioning and startup of future generations of Evolution’s controls platform.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")
- First point of contact for operations support for technical support of controls platform to ensure continuity of operations.
- Provide technical support as required to ensure continuity of manufacturing of equipment.
- Provide training for operations in new processes and technology related to controls engineering.
- Responsible for executing projects involving the controls platform and all related hardware, software, and networks.
- Accountable for designing, commissioning and startup automation and controls solutions that can integrate, where appropriate, to the existing controls platform and strategy.
- Understands equipment electrical controls and can actively work to troubleshoot issues with PLC’s, controllers, networks, VFD’s and power systems, controls & automation software, and all other related elements.
- Maintains high level of knowledge on controls systems, hardware, and programming/software standards and market trends to keep company environment current.
- Actively serves as central point of contact for third-party automation integrators.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Will be required to engage with various technology vendors and partners.
- Will be required to travel for discussions with stakeholders, direct operational support and/or technology R&D or deployments.
- Provide on-call support as needed 24/7 to support operations with control-related issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
- Daily in person, predictable attendance in The Woodlands, TX.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3-year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL
- U.S. High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Applied Science, or related technical field. An equivalent combination of education, specialized training, and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- 3-5 years of automation, controls, and electrical equipment experience.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES
- Strong time management capabilities.
- Specific knowledge of Hydraulic Fracturing activities is preferred.
- Specific Knowledge of Siemens S7 platform preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment controls and logic.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/controls drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret network diagrams.
- Experience successfully executing controls and automation projects with ability to effectively manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of control systems, SEIMENS hardware and software systems and environments, programming languages, protocols, and networking.
- Excellent ability to read, interpret, understand, and write SCL PLC programming language.
- Strong track record of operations mindset.
- Strong ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve goals.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical principles accurately and effectively.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs and any other project design documents.
- Successfully completes New Hire Safety Orientation and annual recertification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach, and squat or kneel. The employee works primarily indoors and will be sitting for prolonged periods at a desk while typing on a computer, whether in a home office, corporate office, client office, or jobsite. The employee must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. When required to visit a wellsite, the work environment may include exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, audio levels up to 85 dB, inclement weather, and extreme temperatures (both hot and cold). Given these conditions, employees visiting a pad site are required to wear company-mandated and company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, and impact gloves, and must strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures. Employees must be able to independently lift 25 lbs.
Work hours may include early morning, late afternoon/evening hours, and weekends in combination depending on job demands.
