Job Description

Department: Health, Safety, and Environment

Job Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non Exempt

Reports To: VP and Chief Financial Officer

Location: Ponca City, OK

Amount of Travel Required: Up to 15%

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The HSE Coordinator supports a safe and compliant workplace across manufacturing, welding, metal fabrication, and heavy equipment production operations. This role promotes a strong safety culture; supports regulatory compliance and risk mitigation; and assists with health, safety, and environmental programs for custom engineered trailers, skid mounted systems, precision fabrication, welding, and hydraulic assemblies.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may")

  • Promote and foster a strong safety culture across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and MSHA requirements.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments of manufacturing areas, equipment, and work processes to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Support drug and alcohol testing programs as required.
  • Prepare and deliver safety meetings, toolbox talks, and HSE training programs addressing PPE, safe work practices, emergency response, and hazard recognition.
  • Track, analyze, and report HSE performance metrics and recommend improvements.
  • Support operational teams in safe and environmentally responsible project execution.
  • Monitor compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management, spill response, and emissions in a manufacturing setting.
  • Maintain accurate safety, training, inspection, and incident records; prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Serve as a primary HSE contact for employees and supervisors and collaborate with operations leadership to integrate safety into daily activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
Qualifications:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre employment drug screening, pre employment fit tests, pre employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s) and pre employment Pulmonary Function Test (PFT).
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance in Ponca City, OK.
  • Overtime required based on business needs.
  • Proficiency in spoken English language.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

Required:

  • U.S. High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • 5 years of relevant HSE experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience conducting site audits, inspections, and investigations.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, machine guarding, welding, and industrial hygiene principles.

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting metal fabrication, layout operations, structural welding, or heavy equipment production environments.
  • Professional safety certification, such as CSP, ASP/GSP, or CHMM.
  • TapRooT™ certification.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and record keeping software.
  • Influence and coach personnel on safety practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees are frequently required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach, and squat or kneel. The employee works primarily indoors and will be sitting for prolonged periods at a desk while keyboarding , with repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus while reading and staring at a computer monitor. The Employee must speak clearly and audibly, and have the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds (e.g., building alarms) from in person speech, telephone, or remote communication. While in the office, the Employee may be called upon to stand, kneel, push, pull, reach overhead, stoop, crouch, climb, and lift; therefore, the Employee should be able to independently lift 25 lbs. The employee must be able to access and navigate each department. When visiting the manufacturing work environments including shops and warehouses, an employee in this position will be subject to exposure to dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects, mechanical parts, and equipment hazards. Given these conditions, the employee is required to wear company mandated and company issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection, welding cap (if applicable), designated safety gloves according to role, and must strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures.  An employee  must demonstrate an understanding of safety procedures and the ability to work in a safety sensitive environment.

Work hours may include early morning, late afternoon/evening hours, and weekends in combination depending on job demands.
