Purchasing Manager

Description

BetterBody foods (BBF) is looking to hire a Purchasing Manager to support the VP of Supply Planning in the company’s next stage of growth. This position would be responsible for overseeing a team of buyers, optimizing procurement processes and leading projects that result in lower landed and acquisition costs. The position is part of a small but powerful procurement team supporting BetterBody Foods brands (PBfit, Oatsome, Plant Junkie) and will likely have direct purchasing responsibilities. This position would work with multiple departments but closely with the Quality and Production management teams. 

What You'll Do (Responsibilities and Duties)

• Manage a team of buyers and sourcing professionals to ensure purchasing, planning and production goals are met.
• Participate in new product development process and ensure adequate sourcing resources are available to support the process. 
• Oversee the maintenance of item planning data withing the ERP system to optimize purchasing spend while maintaining target inventory levels. 
• Day to day management of BBF’s network of international freight forwarders and customs brokers.
• Support BBF’s LEAN culture by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and act as a change agent for the organization. 
• Support the VP of Supply Planning with corporate and department projects/initiatives. . 
• Help maintain a healthy and safe work environment. 
• Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

 Who You Are (Competencies/Qualifications)

· Success in a Supply Chain/Purchasing Manager role, preferably in a CPG environment.  

· A solid manager that has the ability to maximize potential while provided constructive feedback. 

Need To Have (Skills)

· Understanding of supply chain management best practices

· Negotiation and conflict resolution

· Good communication and problem solving skills

· Ability to identify problem root causes and implement solutions 

· Ability to work with Project Management Software such as Ziflow, Monday.com, etc. 

· Create and train on standard operating procedures. 

Nice To Have

· Strong PowerPoint and visualization/presentation skills

· Understanding how to interpret project metrics and KPIs

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervises a team of less than five employees in professional roles. 

Work Environment

This job operates in both an office environment and be sitting for extended periods working at a computer. This position may be required to taste a variety of ingredients with a wide range of flavor attributes including bitter, sour and possibly astringent notes. 

Physical Demands

This position need to occasionally lift up to 35 lbs of delivered sample ingredients.

Job requirements

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm

Additional hours might be required at times

Education/Experience requirements

· A bachelor's degree in a business or engineering related field. 

· A minimum of five years experience in a supply planning or purchasing related role. 

· Prefernce given to experience in a food manufacturing or CPG environment.
