Better Together Wellness Center is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor and/or Mental Health Counselor to join our growing behavioral health team. We provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and co-occurring disorders through individual counseling, group therapy, psychiatric medication management, SAIOP, SACOT, and Mental Health Intensive Outpatient (MH-IOP) services.

As part of our practice, Christian faith-based counseling is available for patients who request it and is always provided in an ethical, patient-centered manner. Clinicians are not required to provide faith-based counseling but should be respectful of and supportive of our practice's mission and values.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive substance use and mental health assessments.
- Develop individualized, person-centered treatment plans.
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling services within your scope of practice.
- Facilitate SAIOP, SACOT, and/or Mental Health IOP groups as assigned.
- Utilize evidence-based interventions including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), relapse prevention, trauma-informed care, and other clinically appropriate treatment approaches.
- Integrate Christian faith-based counseling when requested by the patient and within your clinical competency.
- Complete timely, accurate, and Medicaid-compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with medication management providers, primary care providers, hospitals, Drug Treatment Courts, probation officers, MAT providers, schools, and community agencies to coordinate patient care.
- Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals to higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
- Participate in supervision, clinical consultation, and ongoing professional development as applicable.
- Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations, payer requirements, and professional ethical standards.
Qualifications
- North Carolina licensure or certification preferred, including:
- LCAS or LCAS-A
- CADC or CADC-I
- LCMHC or LCMHC-A
- LCSW or LCSWA
- LMFT or LMFTA
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Addiction Studies, or a related behavioral health field (or certification requirements applicable to CADC positions).
- Experience treating substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or co-occurring disorders preferred.
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational or process groups is preferred but not required.
- Appreciation for working within a practice that offers optional Christian faith-based counseling for patients who desire it.
- Strong assessment, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with electronic health records and telehealth platforms is preferred.
