Job Description

Better Life Adult Living is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Part-Time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at our all-female supportive living home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

We provide residential care and support to adults with developmental disabilities, helping them maintain their independence while ensuring their health, safety, and overall well-being.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, patient, attentive, and willing to take initiative. Our residents depend on consistent care, and we need team members who take their responsibilities seriously.

This position requires working BOTH Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Weekend availability is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

Resident Care and Personal Assistance

• Assist residents with morning routines, bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
• Provide assistance with toileting, mobility, and daily living activities.
• Support residents with individualized care needs while encouraging independence.
• Monitor residents' safety, health, and well-being throughout the shift.
• Administer medications as authorized and trained, following established procedures.

Meal Preparation and Household Duties

• Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to residents' dietary needs.
• Assist residents with meals when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized home, including bathrooms, kitchen, living room, and common areas.
• Complete laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, and other assigned household responsibilities.
• Complete daily cleaning checklists before the end of each shift.

Resident Activities and Community Engagement

• Assist residents with recreational activities and community outings.
• Encourage social interaction, independence, and participation in daily activities.
• Support residents in achieving their individual goals.

Documentation and Communication

• Complete daily progress notes, medication records, and required documentation.
• Follow Individual Service Plans (ISPs), behavioral support plans, and care instructions.
• Communicate resident concerns, incidents, and changes in condition to management.
• Stay informed of important updates communicated through team chats and shift reports.
• Provide accurate information during shift changes.

Safety and Accountability

• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and behavioral concerns.
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation according to required procedures.
• Maintain professional boundaries and respect residents' privacy and dignity.
• Arrive on time, remain attentive, and complete assigned responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must pass a fingerprint and background check.
• Previous experience in caregiving, assisted living, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to assist residents with personal care and mobility needs.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Must be dependable and committed to working both weekend shifts.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay of $17.00 per hour, with potential increases based on experience.
