Position Overview
Better Life Adult Living is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and motivated Full-Time Overnight Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. This position is primarily based at our all-female supported living home in Rio Rancho, where you'll play an important role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of adults with developmental disabilities during overnight hours.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in maintaining a safe and organized home, and is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
We are looking to fill this position immediately, with the opportunity to start as soon as next week.
SchedulePrimary Schedule
- Monday: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Tuesday: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Wednesday: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Thursday: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Weekend On-Call
This position also serves as the primary overnight on-call staff member every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to assist with emergency staffing needs, call-ins, or other operational support when necessary.
Optional Additional Shift
Candidates may have the opportunity to pick up an additional shift:
- Sunday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
This optional shift is located at our all-male supported living home and offers the opportunity to earn additional hours. While not required, preference may be given to candidates who are flexible and willing to support both homes when needed.
Primary work location will remain our all-female supported living home.
ResponsibilitiesOvernight Resident Support
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals throughout the night.
- Perform scheduled safety checks and monitor residents according to their individualized support plans.
- Assist residents with personal care and overnight needs when necessary.
- Respond appropriately and professionally to emergencies or unexpected situations.
- Promote a calm, safe, and respectful overnight environment.
Medication Support
- Assist with medication administration in accordance with agency policies and state regulations.
- Follow medication schedules accurately.
- Complete all required medication documentation.
- Report medication concerns or unusual observations to leadership immediately.
Household Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary home.
- Complete overnight housekeeping duties.
- Perform laundry and linen changes as needed.
- Prepare the home for the incoming morning staff.
- Ensure common areas, bathrooms, and kitchen are clean and ready for the day.
Health, Safety & Documentation
- Observe and report changes in residents' health, behavior, or mood.
- Complete daily notes, medication records, communication logs, and incident reports accurately and on time.
- Follow all DDSD regulations, HIPAA requirements, and Better Life Adult Living policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Professionalism & Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers during shift transitions.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional attitude.
- Attend all required trainings and meetings.
- Support fellow team members when additional assistance is needed.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must successfully pass all required background checks.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to work overnight hours consistently.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous caregiving, DSP, healthcare, or related experience is preferred but not required.
- Medication administration experience is a plus; training will be provided.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and organized.
