What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Family Support Worker position at BETTER COMMUNITY LIVING INC?
Seasonal Hours Available
Looking for creative and fun individuals to assist young adults with I/DD and/or ASD to develop community skills and assist them in participating fully in their community as valued members. Candidates would assist these young adults in identifying areas of interest and then providing opportunities in their community around these interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing individualized guidance, support and problem solving assistance, as well as help accessing and coordinating potential community outings
- Participate and coordinate enrichment groups such cooking, photography, music and arts, public transportation use etc
- Promote self determination values and self directed options
- Enhance the capacity of communities to value and support people with disabilities and their families
- Respond to the specific ethnic, cultural and linguistic needs of these young adults
- Maximize community interactions and engagement
- To coordinate SAFE INTEREST BASED FUN!
- Completed all agency required training.
- Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Physical activities include but not limited to climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, etc.
- Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
- The worker is subject to hazards such as moving parts, moving vehicles, etc.
