Position Overview
Bethlehem Lutheran Church is seeking a talented and passionate musician to lead and coordinate the music for our Sunday contemporary worship services. This role involves selecting music that enhances worship and aligns with LCMS doctrine, leading a team of musicians, communicating with the church office with planning and working closely with the pastoral and worship teams to create a dynamic and spiritually enriching environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the musical portion of the Sunday contemporary worship service
- Select appropriate music in collaboration with the pastoral team, aligning song choices with the themes, liturgy, and messages of each service and Lutheran theology
- Lead and mentor a team of musicians and vocalists, ensuring high-quality performances and fostering spiritual and musical growth within the group
- Organize and lead regular rehearsals to prepare for services, ensuring that all musicians are confident and prepared
- Coordinate with the office secretary to ensure that sound and media elements support the worship experience effectively
- Timely coordinate with the office secretary on worship planning and other communication needs
- Introduce new songs that resonate with the congregation
- Work with the pastors to develop creative musical elements for special services and events
- Foster a positive and collaborative environment among musicians, vocalists, and volunteers.
- Assist in planning and executing special music programs or events as needed (Rally Day, Outdoor Worship, special services).
- Be available for other duties, including assisting in planning music for weddings, funerals, and other church-related events.
Qualifications
- Strong vocal and instrumental skills (guitar, piano, or other lead instruments preferred).
- Experience in leading worship in a contemporary church setting.
- Familiarity with contemporary Christian music
- Familiarity with Lutheran worship
- Ability to work collaboratively with musicians, pastoral staff, and volunteers
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- A heart for worship and a desire to lead others in hearing God's good grace and singing his praises
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the worship team and congregation
- Experience with music software and sound equipment.
- A member of a faithful Christian church in good standing
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $150.00 per week
Expected hours: 6 – 12 per week
