Summary
Initiates and manages the referral intake process, verifies patient and physician information, verifies payer information, initiates, managers and tracks requests for physician face-to-face documentation. Performs physician credentialing and maintains an updated hardcopy file, including PECOS, verification of licensure and OIG exclusion database. Schedules the initial and/or resumption of care visits for the RN or the appropriate licensed therapist as requested by the Nursing Supervisor. Informs the Nursing Supervisor of the need for entry of initial visit orders in the EMR. Maintains an updated electronic master schedule of visits for all disciplines. Communicates any schedule changes to the Nursing Supervisor and the appropriate discipline. Maintains and manages the hospital list daily. Communicates hospital list updates to the appropriate clinician and Nursing Supervisor when indicated. Prints and sends out discharge summaries when patients are discharged. Assist with general office duties such as faxing, filing, printing orders, checking returned orders into the EMR, the assembly and break down of medical records. Assists with follow-up of outstanding orders with physician's offices. Assists the Revenue Cycle Coordinator with and acts as a back-up for daily billing activities for home health. Participates in the organization's performance improvement activities. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.
Job Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Two years of clerical/office experience in a medical setting
- Prior Home Health experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Knowledge of computers and data entry
- Strong proof reading
- Must be able to manage a variety of tasks
- Excellent understanding of customer service
- Excellent interpersonal and telephone communication skills
- Ability to perform necessary documentation in writing
- Ability to lift and/or move items with weights of 10 - 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques and asking for assistance when necessary
- Manual dexterity and skillful use of hands when working with computers and equipment
- Ability to perform critical thinking and judgments
Pay range: $16.08 - $25.24 per hour
