What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Secretary position at Bethel Lutheran Church?
Position Title: Financial Secretary
Responsible to: The Congregation through the Executive Committee
Reports to: The Lead Pastor
Position Type: Part-Time 10 hours/week
General Function: The Financial Secretary collects and records all offerings and income to Bethel. This person communicates this information, in all its detail to the Bookkeeper. This person also keeps track of the pledges and offerings of the Capital Campaign.
Key Responsibility Area: Financial Secretary
1. Accounts Receivable Administer: Collect and record all offerings received to deposit these offerings in the bank weekly.
a. Including: Weekly offerings received in worship or otherwise; the noisy offering; capital campaign pledges and gifts, memorials and other designations, etc.
b. Prepare bags for worship offerings to be collected on Sunday, Wednesday, and special offerings.
2. Pass information on to the Bookkeeper for monthly reports in a timely manner.
3. Send 6 month and annual emails regarding giving to each member/friend that donates. If email is not available, mail a physical copy.
4. Provide needed updates to inquiries from Church Treasurer, Exec Board, pastor, staff and board chairs as needed.

5. Proficient computer skills.

8. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with attention to detail.
9. Accounting/bookkeeping experience.
10. Confidentiality.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
