Building Manager

Overview: To serve the mission of Jesus Christ in and through Bethany Lutheran Church and in the community by providing leadership in the areas of custodial and building maintenance.

Essential Qualifications, Characteristics and Attributes:

• Has a personal lifestyle that exhibits the values of the Christian faith
• Understands and supports the vision and mission of Bethany Lutheran Church
• Possesses a knowledge of building maintenance methods and the ability to apply them in an economical and efficient manner.
• Maintains an appropriate inventory of cleaning material and supplies
• Experience in and has a general knowledge of building maintenance including the following. Plumbing, heating, electrical, carpentry, and other operational equipment cleaning.
• Understands ministry as team
• Exhibits a positive outlook
• Possesses an ability to independently plan and organize the work to be done
• Is in good physical condition, able to lift up 30 pounds
• Possesses an ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Has an ability to communicate and relate well and get along well with others
• Possesses an ability to organize and supervise work of church volunteers
• Has a cooperative spirit and is willing to receive training.
• Is willing to commit the necessary time to complete assigned tasks

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Church sanctuary, and all building facilities will be neat, clean and safe for church activities and visitors. The following may be performed on a daily, weekly, or as needed.
• Communicate the needs to the church property to staff and the property committee
• Complete minor repairs of the church property
• Custodial Cleaning of Church
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Attend and is the staff liaison person for property committee
• Monitors property budget
• Congregational point of contact for maintenance needs
• Organize and manage the spring and fall clean -up day Contact and coordinate all contractor related repairs
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Church Council, Pastor and Property Committee

Church Grounds:

• Keep the church grounds neat & free of limbs and trash
• Keep sidewalks clear of snow, ice and debris
• Communicate the needs of parsonage sidewalks, yard, etc.
• Coordinate for snow removal before Sunday services

Equipment Maintenance:

• Filters for Heating/Cooling units
• Geothermal pumps operational
• Fire Alarms, safety alarms, coordinate with inspections & repair

Custodial Cleaning:

• Weekly cleaning of the church building
• Clean before and after a Funerals, Wedding or special events
• Coordinate with Administrative assistant

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
