Position: Full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science

The Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Exercise Science position beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in launching the College's new Exercise Science program.
The College seeks a dynamic and engaging educator with a strong commitment to student success in a small liberal arts environment. The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate courses, which may include Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology/Biomechanics, Anatomy and Physiology, Emergency Medical Training,
Orthopedic Evaluation and Rehabilitation, as well as courses aligned with the candidate's expertise. The faculty member will contribute to the development of experiential learning opportunities that strengthen the curriculum, including allied health and applied health tracks, and will integrate technology and interactive materials to enhance student learning.
Additional responsibilities include academic advising and mentoring of Exercise Science majors, support for undergraduate research, and collaboration with colleagues across the College to support student recruitment. The position also involves participation in departmental, faculty, and College-wide committees; contributions to curriculum development and assessment; and engagement in service activities that advance the mission of the College. The successful candidate is expected to maintain active scholarly or professional engagement, remain current in the discipline, and participate in relevant professional organizations and conferences. Overall, the faculty member will provide high-quality instruction, advising, and service to the department and the broader College community.
Required Qualifications
· Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
· Prior teaching experience at the collegiate level, preferably in a four-year liberal arts setting.
· Demonstrated experience with course development and instructional design.
· Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Commitment to the mission and core values of Bethany College.
Preferred Qualifications
· Ph.D. in Exercise Science or a related field.
· Professional certifications from relevant organizations (e.g., ACSM Exercise Physiologist, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).
· Experience with learner-centered education and diverse student populations.
· Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of new academic programs.
