Job Purpose
The Cosmetologist is compassionate and courteous while providing professional haircuts for patients who are inpatient at Bethany Children’s Health Center. They improve patient well-being by providing haircuts directly at bedside, while strictly adhering to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and health privacy regulations (HIPAA)
Schedule
Monday mornings with haircuts beginning at 8:30am
Qualifications

Education: |
Graduate of an accredited or state-approved cosmetology program |
|
Experience: |
Minimum of one-year professional Cosmetology experience. Experience working with children and/or medically complex children preferred |
|
License/Certification/Credential: |
Current Cosmetology or Barber License recognized in the state of Oklahoma in good standing |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Duty |
|
Provides haircuts and trims for inpatients using clippers, scissors, and other appropriate professional tools and techniques |
|
Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment by removing hair from the patient's bedside area and disinfecting all haircutting tools and equipment between each patient in accordance with infection prevention standards |
|
Detangles and grooms patients' hair using appropriate detangling products and brushes or combs while ensuring patient comfort and safety |
|
Demonstrates proper hand hygiene before and after each patient interaction and at all other required times in accordance with hospital policy |
|
Maintains the confidentiality of patient, family, and organizational information in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and hospital policies |
|
Maintains professional licensure and complies with all applicable state regulations |

Bethany Children’s Health Center is an innovative leader in the field of pediatric rehabilitation and 24-hour complex care.
