What are the responsibilities and job description for the Restaurant Prep Cook position at Beth's Bar&Grill?
About the Role
At Beth's Bar & Grill, our reputation is built on food that is prepared fresh, never frozen. As a Prep Cook, you are the foundation of our kitchen. You will manage the critical "behind-the-scenes" production—from marinating briskets to batching our house-made sauces and hand-breading our signature appetizers. We are looking for someone organized, efficient, and dedicated to culinary consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Recipe Execution: Follow standardized recipe cards to prepare bulk appetizers, sides, and main course components (such as meatloaf mix and hand-breaded tenders).
- Meat Preparation: Assist with trimming, seasoning, and prepping meats for our in-house smokers and grills.
- Produce & Pantry: Wash, peel, and chop vegetables; prepare bulk salads and cold sides according to daily prep lists.
- Station Readiness: Ensure all line stations are fully stocked with fresh, high-quality ingredients before the lunch and dinner rushes begin.
- Storage & Rotation: Label, date, and rotate all prepared items using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) method to ensure maximum freshness and food safety.
- Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized prep area, including the proper cleaning and maintenance of meat slicers, food processors, and other equipment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Skill Set: Proficient knife skills and experience with commercial kitchen equipment (slicers, scales, mixers).
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to follow recipes precisely to ensure consistency across every batch.
- Efficiency: Ability to work independently and manage a "Daily Prep List" within strict timeframes.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for the duration of a shift and lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., bags of flour or crates of produce).
- Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume scratch kitchen is a major plus, but we are willing to train candidates with a strong work ethic and a passion for food.
Why Join the BB's Team?
- Consistent Schedule: Prep shifts often provide more predictable daylight hours compared to late-night line shifts.
- Culinary Growth: Learn the technical aspects of a successful scratch kitchen, including meat smoking and advanced batch cooking.
- Local Culture: Work for a neighborhood favorite with a loyal following and a supportive, team-oriented environment.
- Perks: Competitive hourly pay and employee discounts on our award-winning menu.
