Direct Support Staff

Betal Home Care Services LLC. is A 24-hour Supported Living Arrangement (SLA) company that provides individuals with physical and intellectual limitations, maximum support care in a home setting. While living in a home with other individuals, service recipients accomplish their goals and work towards their greatest potential; as well as play a contributing role in their communities. The company was founded in October of 2005 and currently has four homes in the Sun Valley/Sparks area of Northern Nevada.

Under the direction of the House Managers, the Direct Support Professional will provide support and personal services (e.g. health services, emotional support, and recreational support) to individuals that we serve in the homes.

• Monitors individual’s condition by observing physical and mental condition, intake and output, and exercise.
• Supports individual’s by providing housekeeping and laundry services; shopping for food and other household requirements; preparing and serving meals and snacks; running errands.
• Assists individual’s by providing personal services, such as, bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Helps individual’s care for themselves by teaching use of a cane or walker, special utensils to eat, special techniques and equipment for personal hygiene.
• Records an individual's information by making entries in the individual’s binder; notifying the House Manager or management team of changing or unusual conditions.
• Protects the home care agency by adhering to professional standards, home care policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
• Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy client environment by following asepses standards and procedures; maintaining security precautions; following prescribed dietary requirements and nutrition standards
• Ensuring that their personal employee binders are up-to date (e.g. CPR, Medication Administration certification, training, valid driver's license, etc.)
• Report to Management:
• Any in-home staff who are not following people that we serve training and behavior protocols.
• Any in-home staff who is violating agency policy regarding people that we serve care and professional conduct.
• All incidents that occur within your shift.

-Complete Required Paperwork Daily:

• Medication Administration Record: Notate medication given throughout the day.
• Control Count Sheet: Report controlled substances.
• Communication Log/Documentation: Ensure ISPs are completed daily, notate daily activities, tasks, and/or issues that may occur per shift.
• Community Physicians Report: To be completed per doctor visit.
• Annual Physician's Examination: To be completed once a year via doctor.
• Cash Ledger Form: To document expenses including the attachment of receipts. Should be given and signed off by the House Manager.
• Home Visits and Outings Form: To document people that we serve visitations and/or overnight outings.
• Safety/Emergency Drill Form: Need to check with SRC on how often this is to be completed.
• Incident Report: When applicable, this form is to be completed and given to the house manager to be sent to the Management team within the 24-hr period.
• Time In/Out Sheet: Submit Time In/Out sheets to House Manager every two weeks. (Every other Sunday)

-Ensures people that we serve are attending their medical appointments

- Administer medications to individuals

-Cook/prepare meals and snacks for people that we serve

-Assist in doing laundry for people that we serve

-Take people that we serve shopping for:

• Grocery Items
• Hygiene Items
• Personal Items

-Ensure that home supplies and food are up-to-stock and if there are any necessary supplies or food needed in the home, report to the House Manager

-Take people that we serve on outings (once a week, on the weekend)

-Problem solve with people that we serve when angry or upset

- Clean house:

• Vacuuming
• Sweeping
• Dusting
• Mopping
• Making beds
• Washing walls, fridge, and bathrooms, stove tops, microwave
• Outside perimeter of house
• Inside perimeter of the house (e.g. cobwebs)

- As occurs, attend meetings for people we serve (e.g. SLA meetings)

- Conducts and documents emergency activities/fire drills with support staff

- Attend regular staff meetings

-Checks mailbox and puts mail in designated area

-Checks home voice messages and relays information to Supervisor

-Other duties as assigned

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
