Summary of Position:
The Vault Teller is responsible for the accurate control, verification, and balancing of casino funds. This position verifies funds going on and off the gaming floor, balances vault funds, and prepares required documentation and tax forms related to gaming payouts. The Vault Teller must maintain strict accountability, accuracy, and confidentiality while working in a fast-paced, regulated gaming environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior cash-handling experience required; banking, credit union, or casino experience preferred.
- Proficiency with a 10-key calculator and basic computer applications, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to count large sums of money quickly and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional appearance and demeanor; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Must be punctual and dependable.
- Must pass required background and credit checks in accordance with tribal gaming regulatory requirements.
- Must meet minimum age requirements established by the Tribe and/or gaming regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify and balance all cashier and gaming funds coming on and off the gaming floor.
- Maintain accurate vault balances and reconcile variances to established standards.
- Prepare and process required tax forms and documentation for gaming winners.
- Accept, verify, and document cash-in and cash-out transactions using approved forms and systems in accordance with internal controls and gaming regulations.
- Accurately count large sums of currency and coin.
- Operate 10-key calculators, computers, and casino accounting or cage systems.
- Maintain detailed records related to vault and gaming activity, and ensure compliance with all internal controls, policies, procedures, and applicable gaming regulations.
- Safeguard casino assets and maintain sole accountability for funds entrusted during assigned shifts.
- Provide professional and courteous service while working cooperatively with other team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment by wiping down computers, equipment, and vacuuming on occasion.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry 10 – 20 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, and grip items while working.
- Ability to stand and walk for portions of the shift and sit for extended periods as required.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to operate office and counting equipment, including 10-key calculators, money counters, computers, printers, and copiers.
- Ability to work with sustained concentration and accuracy in mentally demanding situations.
- Ability to respond appropriately to visual and auditory cues.
Working Conditions:
This position works primarily in a secure environment with exposure to continuous cash-handling activities and time-sensitive transactions. The role requires adherence to strict security protocols and internal controls. The designated work area is in a casino that allows its patrons to smoke.
