Duties

• Safely operate a variety of trucks, including manual transmission vehicles, to transport freight across designated routes.
• Load and unload cargo efficiently, ensuring proper handling of freight such as refrigerated goods.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load securement, to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
• Navigate routes effectively, adhering to schedules and optimizing delivery times while maintaining a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.
• Manage documentation such as delivery manifests, load sheets, and delivery logs accurately and promptly.
• Communicate proactively with dispatch and warehouse teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues encountered during routes.
• Operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading and unloading freight.
• Follow all federal, state, and company safety regulations, including hours of service rules and proper handling of hazardous or sensitive materials.
• Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of trucks and equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Support team members with additional tasks such as route planning, inventory checks, and equipment inspections as needed.

Skills

• Proven experience in truck driving, including delivery driver experience with various freight types.
• Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and efficiently.
• Experience driving specialized trucks such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks.
• Skilled in load securement, freight handling, and proper use of equipment like forklifts.
• Excellent route planning and navigation skills to optimize delivery schedules.
• Capable of load and unload operations, ensuring cargo safety and integrity.
• Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, customers, and team members.
• Physical ability to lift, move, and secure freight, often involving heavy or bulky items.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing routes, schedules, and freight requirements.
