Legal Practice Assistant - Litigation (Oregon)

Best Best & Krieger has an immediate need for an experienced Legal Practice Assistant with strong Oregon State and Federal Court litigation skills. Experience with municipal law a plus. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, independent self-starter with executive management skills who can thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive environment. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and iManage or similar document management software. Standard hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The Legal Practice Assistant is responsible for providing support to attorneys and paralegals. Responsibilities include preparing legal documents for filing with various courts, in various jurisdictions, preparing and processing new client matter reports, providing assistance to visiting summer associates and attorneys and accepting overflow work from other legal practice assistants.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Oregon state and federal court experience.
• Complex litigation and trial preparation experience.
• Strong calendaring and proofreading skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Must have at least 5 years relevant experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a professional environment, either in an office or remote setting, and involves regular use of standard office equipment and technology. The work environment generally involves minimal exposure to noise, environmental hazards, or extreme conditions.

The reasonably expected pay scale for this position with 5 or more years of experience is $74,000 - $95,000 annually, non-exempt.  The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience.  We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
