Corporate Safety Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Corporate Safety Manager oversees the company’s safety programs and provides safety guidance and support to all Besser locations. This position is responsible for maintaining regulatory compliance, identifying and addressing safety risks, investigating incidents, and supporting the development of safe work practices throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develops, implements, and maintains company-wide safety policies, programs, procedures, and initiatives.
2. Provides safety leadership, guidance, and support all Besser Company locations.
3. Ensures company safety programs and practices comply with applicable OSHA, state, and federal safety and health requirements, including required recordkeeping and reporting.
4. Conducts and/or coordinates safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement.
5. Evaluates hazardous conditions, equipment, processes, and work practices and recommends appropriate hazard controls and corrective actions.
6. Reviews new equipment, processes, chemicals, and facility changes to identify potential safety and health risks and recommends appropriate controls.
7. Investigates workplace injuries, incidents, near misses, and other safety-related events, identifies contributing factors, and makes recommendations to prevent recurrence.
8. Develops and monitors safety performance metrics and provides management with regular updates and recommendations.
9. Develops and coordinates safety training, safety meetings, safety huddles, and other safety communication and educational programs.
10. Partners with Human Resources, operations, and plant management on workers' compensation, return-to-work, and other safety-related matters.
11. Promotes safety awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization and monitors adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
12. Develops and maintains emergency preparedness and response procedures and coordinates related training and drills.
13. Stays current on developments in the health and safety field and evaluates their potential application to company operations.
14. Maintains the company’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program and related hazardous chemical information and ensures required information is accessible to employees.
15. Provides guidance on appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and works with company locations to ensure employees are provided with required PPE.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
Experience: Two years of manufacturing-related safety experience.
Skills: Strong verbal and written communications skills. Good organizational skills. Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with employees and management at all levels and address sensitive safety and employee concerns appropriately. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Requirements: Strong knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations, and practices. Familiarity with applicable state and federal safety regulations. Must be willing to travel between company locations as needed.
