Position Summary:
WMATA is seeking a highly organized and proactive Communications and Outreach Project Manager to oversee all facets of public communications and community outreach projects. This temporary, full-time position requires availability throughout the DC–Maryland–Virginia metro region and onsite support at WMATA facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of communications and outreach project management, including timelines, content preparation and review, task orders, scopes of work, deadlines, budgets, and invoice review.
- Coordinate outreach staff, logistics, and other project-related tasks in accordance with the Public Participation Plan (PPP).
- Ensure compliance with Title VI, ADA, and WMATA Compact requirements in all outreach materials and activities.
- Write, edit, review, and produce professional public communications materials and reports for internal, executive, and public audiences, including Board of Directors submittals.
- Maintain accurate tracking, recordkeeping, and documentation as required by the FTA and PPP, including updating the PPP database.
- Develop and deliver training programs for internal staff and project-specific outreach teams.
- Serve as a Metro brand ambassador at public events, community meetings, and other outreach activities, including presentations, stakeholder engagement, and survey distribution.
- Build strong relationships with community stakeholders and ensure clear, consistent communication across projects.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.A. in Communications, Public Affairs/Public Relations, Business, Planning, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in communications project management, preferably within a large service organization.
- Skills: Excellent writing, editing, and public speaking skills. Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Strong organizational, project management, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to work onsite at WMATA-designated facilities throughout the DMV region.
- Must have reliable transportation to support work across multiple locations.

Pay: $42.00 - $55.00 per hour
